Myton, UT

Myton is a Duchesne County city on the south side of the Duchesne River in eastern Utah's Uintah Basin. Established in 1905, the city had 561 residents in the 2020 census. U.S. Highway 40 and U.S. Highway 191 pass through the area, placing Myton between Duchesne, 19 miles west, and Roosevelt, 10 miles northeast. The town's setting is part of the former Uintah Reservation, opened to homesteaders in 1905 after allotments to Uintah and White River Utes.

Myton's current place in the Uintah Basin is tied to river-valley roads and the area's Indigenous history. City materials highlight nearby rock art and the Utah Field House of Natural History in Vernal, while Duchesne County's calendar includes Myton Daze. The city is close to the larger regional services of Roosevelt and Duchesne, yet keeps its own riverfront grid and municipal government.
