Nahant is a small coastal town in Essex County, Massachusetts, situated on a peninsula connected to the mainland by a narrow sandy causeway known as Nahant Road. The smallest municipality by area in Massachusetts, the residential community of approximately 3,300 features numerous tourist beaches, including the popular Long Beach and Short Beach along the causeway. The Northeastern University Marine Science Center is located in the town.
