About Navarre

Navarre is centered on the junction of U.S. Route 98 and State Road 87 in Santa Rosa County, about 25 miles east of Pensacola and 15 miles west of Fort Walton Beach. The northwest Florida community had 40,817 residents in 2020. The East Bay and Yellow rivers and several creeks bound it on the north, while Santa Rosa Sound lies to the south. Navarre Beach is a separate census-designated place across the sound; Navarre Beach Marine Park is immediately east of that community, and its 1,545-foot fishing pier is the longest in Florida and on the Gulf of Mexico. In 1693, a Spanish expedition named what is now the East Bay River “The River Jordan” for Captain Jordan de Reina.
