Neligh, NE

Neligh is an Antelope County city whose best-known landmark still tells the town’s founding story. John Neligh began building a brick flour mill on the Elkhorn River in 1873, right as the new town was taking shape. The mill eventually stopped production, and its machinery is now preserved at a state historic site. Neligh is northeastern Nebraska with water, brick, and county-seat history all meeting at the river.
