About Nesco

Nesco is an Atlantic County CDP in Mullica Township, a Pine Barrens place whose best-known story involves the Tory outlaw Joe Mulliner. A plaque at the Indian Cabin Mill Inn ties the place to Mulliner, but the story deserves an asterisk: later historical work disputes whether the arrest happened at that exact inn. The old legend still gives the community a memorable Pine Barrens thread. The New Columbia-Nesco United Methodist Church and the former Nesco School provide a steadier civic outline. Nesco is South Jersey in Pine Barrens form: Mullica River country, a small settlement, and a local tale that has outlived its footnotes.
