Nevada, OH

Nevada is a Wyandot County village whose name is pronounced nah-VAY-da, a local distinction that keeps it separate from the western state's better-known name. The village was platted in 1852 and named for the Sierra Nevada, then grew along the railroad with hotels and businesses. A post office has operated here since 1854. US 330 now passes by the village, placing the old railroad center on a modern county route between the farms and larger towns of northwestern Ohio.
