New Harmony, UT

New Harmony is a Washington County town settled in 1852 in the shadow of Pine Valley Mountain, the Bumblebee Range, and Kolob Canyon. Its first chapter was industrial: settlers tried to mine and refine local iron, building a crude foundry that was soon abandoned when moving materials proved too difficult. The later town grew from Mormon pioneer families displaced by the collapse of Fort Harmony. New Harmony is southern Utah in a high-country pocket where orchards, red-rock country, and an abandoned iron idea still sit in the same story.
