New Hope, NC

New Hope is a Wayne County census-designated place on the eastern edge of Goldsboro, with East New Hope Road running through the community toward the North Carolina Railroad. The CDP sits between Old Mill Branch and West Bear Creek, and the Goldsboro Bypass passes just east. Its strongest local institution is the New Hope Volunteer Fire Department, organized in 1956 after a barn fire and recognized as Wayne County's first rural volunteer fire department. That gives New Hope a concrete local story: a small unincorporated place whose name is carried by its school district, road, and long-running fire department.
