New Oxford's current working side is unusually visible for a borough of its size. Sandridge Crafted Foods operates a processing facility on Commerce Drive, Yazoo Mills makes paper tubes and cores at its New Oxford plant, and Aero Energy keeps its headquarters and fuel-service operation near the town circle. Other manufacturers and wholesalers fill the surrounding industrial addresses, while Conewago Valley School District serves local students. Food, paper, and energy work sit within the same borough network as the historic center.

Center Square remains the place where New Oxford gathers. James Bolton laid out the settlement for Henry Kuhn in 1792, residents incorporated the borough in 1874, and the square still shows the old town plan. Market on the Square brings about 140 vendors on the third Saturday in June; Harvest Day adds a parade and craft show on the fourth Saturday in October; tree lighting keeps the center active after the growing season. The New Oxford Area Historical Society leads talks and walking programs tied to the streets and founders.
