New Paris, OH

New Paris is a Preble County village at the intersection of State Routes 121 and 320, just east of the Indiana line and north of I-70. It was laid out in 1817 by settlers who carried the name from Paris, Kentucky, and its post office has operated since 1820. The village occupies a valley among rolling farmland, with Richmond, Indiana, close to the west and Dayton within the wider regional orbit. That border position has always made roads part of the local story.

National Trail Local School District serves New Paris and the surrounding townships, while the Preble County District Library maintains a branch in the village. The village’s Apple Fest is part of a county calendar that celebrates farm life, and local streets still gather homes, shops, churches, and civic buildings around the old crossroads.
