New Village, NJ

New Village is a tiny rural community tucked along Route 57 in Franklin Township, Warren County. Home to around 400 residents, it sits in a scenic pocket of northwestern New Jersey between the Pohatcong and Musconetcong valleys. Alongside nearby hamlets like Asbury and Broadway, New Village offers a quiet, relaxed atmosphere surrounded by rolling hills, open farmland, and plenty of country charm.

The community grew in the 19th century around the Morris Canal, but its most famous chapter began when Thomas Edison opened a massive cement plant here at the turn of the 20th century. Edison's local factory produced the concrete used to build the original Yankee Stadium and paved New Jersey's first concrete highway right through the village in 1912. Today, the heavy industry is long gone, leaving behind a peaceful crossroads with a fascinating slice of Garden State history.
