Newman, IL

Newman is a quiet community tucked into the open prairie of east-central Illinois, roughly thirty miles southeast of Champaign-Urbana. Home to around 800 residents, it offers a relaxed, slow-paced lifestyle in rural Douglas County. The town dates back to the 1850s, when it was founded in anticipation of a new railway line, gradually growing into a dependable hub for local farming families.

Daily routines still gravitate toward Broadway, where you will find the Newman Regional Library, city offices, and a handful of local businesses. Community parks at the center and eastern edge of town provide plenty of green space for afternoon walks, youth sports, and seasonal get-togethers.
