About Newport

Newport is the county seat of Lincoln County and one of the central cities of the Oregon Coast. The area was home to the Yacona people for thousands of years, and the modern city still revolves around the ocean, bay, and working waterfront. Newport is known for Yaquina Bay, the Oregon Coast Aquarium, fishing, beaches, and NOAA's Pacific research fleet, which moved its base there from Seattle in 2011. It feels like a real coastal city, not just a beach stop.
