About Newport

Newport is a city and the county seat of Cocke County, Tennessee, situated along the Pigeon River near English Mountain. Originally known by early European traders as War Ford and later home to the historic Newport Canners baseball team, the community of approximately 6,881 is served by the Cocke County School District for public education.
