About Newton

Newton is a city and the county seat of Catawba County, North Carolina, established in 1845 and incorporated in 1855. Situated in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, the community of approximately 13,300 is part of the Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton metropolitan area and is bordered by the cities of Conover to the north and Hickory to the northwest. Public education is administered by the Newton-Conover City Schools district.
