About Nicholasville

Nicholasville is the county seat of Jessamine County and a fast-growing city just south of Lexington. It was founded by European Americans in 1798 after the Revolutionary War and incorporated in 1837. The city has long served as a local center for surrounding farms and small communities, and today it also functions as part of the Lexington metro area's suburban growth.
