Nightmute is a city and Yup'ik village in Bethel Census Area, Alaska, situated on Nelson Island near Toksook Bay, with the two communities connected by snowmachine trail in winter. The name Negtemiut means the people of the pressed-down place in the Yup'ik language. With a population of 306 at the 2020 census, the city is served by Nightmute School, operated by the Lower Kuskokwim School District.
