Founded in the late seventeenth century, Norfolk has plenty of history tucked into its modern core. You can still see an authentic 1776 British cannonball stuck in the brick wall of St. Paul's Episcopal Church downtown. Today, the Elizabeth River waterfront is the center of weekend fun, featuring outdoor concerts at Town Point Park, minor league baseball games at Harbor Park, and tours of the retired battleship Wisconsin at Nauticus. Living so close to the water is great for scenery, but it also means dealing with the realities of low coastal elevation.
