North Apollo, PA

North Apollo is an Armstrong County borough along the Kiskiminetas River, south of Apollo and across the river from East Vandergrift. The 2020 census counted 1,252 residents. Borough offices, residential streets, local road crews, and Apollo-Ridge School District tie the community to the surrounding river valley. Residents also share regional library access through the Apollo Memorial Library, while county government handles the broader planning, emergency, and transportation systems.

North Apollo was formed on February 11, 1930, when residents petitioned to separate the town from Kiskiminetas Township. A student naming contest produced Glenola, but postal confusion sent the borough toward North Apollo because of its proximity to Apollo. The first borough office occupied a one-room election house that also held council chambers, a police station, and the tax collector; a larger borough building followed in 1998. The river, the borough road grid, the Apollo bridge connections, and the shared school campus in Spring Church still define daily movement. North Apollo is a compact river borough whose civic history is written in ordinary municipal buildings.
