North Cleveland, TX

North Cleveland sits on the north and west edges of Cleveland, in Liberty County, with the East Fork of the San Jacinto River on its western side. The 2020 census counted 225 residents. Interstate 69/U.S. 59 passes through the southeastern corner, putting the small city on the same north-south corridor that leads toward Livingston and Houston. North of town, San Jacinto County and Sam Houston National Forest begin to shape the wider landscape.

Cleveland Independent School District serves North Cleveland, and the district’s schools and offices are centered in nearby Cleveland. The local watershed runs through the East Fork toward Galveston Bay, so the river is part of the place’s larger geography even when the daily map is mostly roads, homes, and school routes. North Cleveland is a small city with a separate name and boundary, but it sits in close conversation with Cleveland, the forest edge, the freeway, and the river. That mix gives it a distinctly in-between Texas setting.
