About North Industry

North Industry is a Stark County community along Nimishillen Creek, with a name that sounds industrial because the early map really was. A post office was established here in 1832, and the settlement had a blast furnace and watermill before the area became part of the Canton–Massillon corridor. The old North Industry school was built in 1923 as a high school, later became an elementary building, and stayed in service until 1984; Canton Local School District keeps that history in view. North Industry is still a small Canton Township place, but its creek, post office, and schoolhouse past give it more texture than the CDP label suggests.
