North Massapequa, NY

North Massapequa is governed through a web of shared institutions rather than a village hall. It is an unincorporated part of the Town of Oyster Bay, and services are divided among the town and separate library, school, fire, and transit districts. Hicksville Road and Broadway form the main north–south service spine. Town Hall South places parks, licensing, intergovernmental, and other offices on that corridor, while NICE's n80 bus runs along Broadway and Hicksville Road between Unqua Road at Sunrise Highway and Hicksville station. Plainedge Public Library is the most visible local institution on the corridor. The current building dates to 1968, opens six days a week, and lends digital media, mobile hotspots, museum passes, and a Library of Things. Voters approved a replacement-building bond in October 2025.

Plans call for a 24,000-square-foot library on the same site with an expanded children's center, makerspace and STEM lab, meeting and study rooms, young-adult space, and an outdoor courtyard. The library's July 2026 update said temporary space had been leased, a construction bid was planned for early August, relocation was anticipated in late September pending a town permit, and demolition was expected in early October; the current building remained open in the meantime. Two other town facilities structure recreation. Plainedge Park has baseball diamonds, a multipurpose field for football, soccer, and lacrosse, a playground, and the Brian Moore Athletic Center. The North Massapequa Community Center on North Albany Avenue hosts recurring 2026 senior programs including exercise, tai chi, line dancing, games, crafts, and music groups.
