North Washington, CO

North Washington is an unincorporated census-designated place in Adams County, immediately north of Denver and within the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood metropolitan area. The 2020 census counted 733 residents. Washington Street and the nearby I-25/I-70 interchange put the community in the middle of the north Denver industrial and commercial belt, even though it has no incorporated town government. Addresses here often point to larger operations and regional traffic rather than a traditional main street.

The Denver Post gives North Washington its clearest civic landmark. The paper’s printing plant at 5990 Washington Street already handled printing and business work before most of the newsroom and advertising staff moved there from downtown Denver. That shift made the small CDP part of the metro area’s working news infrastructure. The printing operation has been a major physical presence on Washington Street. North Washington’s story is therefore tied to the practical edge of Denver: warehouses, road connections, county services, and a major newspaper operation sharing a narrow strip of Adams County land.
