About Northway

Northway is a census-designated place in the Southeast Fairbanks Census Area, Alaska. Encompassing the historic sites of Charlieskin Village and Kathakne, the remote community of over two hundred residents was expanded prior to the 2020 census to merge with Northway Junction and Northway Village. The area is served by the Alaska Gateway School District and experiences some of the most extreme winter temperatures in North America, offering a traditional Athabascan lifestyle.
