Norwood, LA

Tucked into the rolling countryside of northern East Feliciana Parish, Norwood is a small rural community of fewer than 300 residents sitting just below the Mississippi state line. It offers plenty of open space, quiet country roads, and a peaceful pace of life, located about 40 miles north of Baton Rouge along Highway 19. The village traces its roots back to 1883, when landowner Abel J. Norwood donated 75 acres to bring the railroad through the area.

His agreement came with a clever condition: every passing train had to stop, quickly turning Norwood into a convenient local hub for travelers and farm goods. While the railroad era is in the past, that quiet, close-knit feel has stayed intact. Residents head down the road to Clinton for parish services and rely on Highway 19 for a direct drive into Baton Rouge for work, dining, and major shopping.
