About Norwood
Norwood is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Charlevoix County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The 2020 census counted 144 residents. Norwood is located along the shores of Lake Michigan in Norwood Township. The area was settled as early as 1867 when Orvis Wood and Lucius Pearl, and Orin Adams built a dock and sawmill here. Norwood is served entirely by Charlevoix Public Schools to the northeast in Charlevoix. Norwood's local map joins its older history to the places and landscapes that still shape the town today, all within the wider Michigan setting. The local scoop is how Norwood's history still shows up in the places people visit, work, learn, and meet. At the time, it was part of Emmet County, as Charlevoix County was not organized in 1869.
