Nearby Scott Air Force Base gives O'Fallon an unusually direct connection to military transportation and mobility work. The installation is home to U.S. Transportation Command, Air Mobility Command, the 618th Air Operations Center, Guard and Reserve flying units, and dozens of other organizations; O'Fallon's 2020 through 2024 Census profile separately counted 4,679 veterans in the city. Recreation has a similarly large physical footprint. The 200-acre O'Fallon Family Sports Park contains ten baseball and softball fields, twelve full-size soccer fields, three playgrounds, fishing ponds, a splash pad, and a roughly two-mile walking and cycling path. Youth and adult leagues make the complex a regular destination rather than only a tournament venue. Downtown, O'Fallon Station hosts the Vine Street Market. Its 2026 season ran on Saturday mornings from May 9 through October 17, with more than 60 weekly vendors, food sourced within 100 miles, live music, and food trucks.

O'Fallon counted 32,289 residents in 2020 and had an estimated 32,656 in July 2025. From 2020 through 2024, 70 percent of homes were owner-occupied, the median owner-occupied value was $295,700, monthly costs for owners with a mortgage were $2,105, and median gross rent was $1,332. Median household income was $105,982, poverty was six percent, and workers averaged about 25 minutes of travel to work. Public transportation reaches the city but does not cover every neighborhood. The summer 2026 Route 12 schedule linked stops along Lincoln Avenue and Highway 50 with the Fairview Heights and Shiloh-Scott transit centers, where riders could transfer to MetroLink's Red Line for downtown St. Louis and Lambert airport.
