Oakdale, NY

Oakdale is a South Shore Long Island community in the town of Islip, set near the Connetquot River and Great South Bay. It grew around old travel routes now followed by Sunrise Highway and Montauk Highway, but its best-known character comes from Gilded Age estates and waterfront scenery. Connetquot River State Park Preserve gives the area a major natural landmark, while the former Dowling College campus reflects Oakdale's mansion-filled past.
