Ocean View, NJ

Ocean View is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Dennis Township, Cape May County, with 685 residents in 2020. Route 9, called Shore Road in early county history, runs through the community and once carried travelers between the northern counties and Cape May County’s resorts. The Baptist Church on Route 9 and the John Townsend House mark the older settlement, where a creek was dammed to create Magnolia Lake and power mills. Today Ocean View sits within a township shaped by agriculture, cedar-swamp industries, and Belleplain State Forest, with camping, hiking, biking, and birding part of the wider area. It is an inland Cape May community with a long road-and-water history.
