Oceanville, NJ

Oceanville is an unincorporated census-designated place in Galloway Township, Atlantic County, about four miles north-northeast of Absecon. The 2020 census counted 793 residents. The community has its own post office, while Galloway Township provides the broader municipal map today. Students attend Galloway Township schools through eighth grade and Absegami High School afterward. Atlantic City, Absecon, and the rest of the shore region handle larger shopping, medical, and employment trips, but Oceanville remains a recognizable inland section of Galloway Township.

Oceanville’s cultural claim came from the Noyes Museum of Art, which operated in the community from 1983 until 2016. The museum and collection later became part of Stockton University, with the university continuing exhibitions and South Jersey arts work through other locations. That handoff is a useful local detail: Oceanville is not just a residential name on a township map. Its older post office, school routes, and museum history sit alongside the roads, wetlands, and pine country of inland Atlantic County.
