Oelwein is a city in Fayette County, Iowa, situated at the intersection of State Highways 3 and 150. Established in 1872 on land purchased from pioneer Gustav Oelwein and hosting the historic railroad-themed Hub City Heritage Museum, the community of approximately 5,834 is served by the Oelwein Community School District for public education locally.
