Oglala, SD

Oglala is a small, close-knit community on the northwest side of the Pine Ridge Reservation in southwestern South Dakota. Named for the Oglala Lakota people, the area is rich in history and tribal culture, with everyday life centered around family and local traditions. Young students attend Isna Wica Owayawa, also known as Loneman Day School, while older students have access to regional reservation schools with broader athletic and academic programs. Just north of the community, Oglala Lake offers a scenic backdrop and a peaceful spot for fishing or enjoying wide-open prairie views.
