About Olde Stockdale

Olde Stockdale is a small Kern County CDP built around Stockdale Country Club on the former Tevis estate. Stockdale Holding Company was established there in 1925, and the Stockdale Golf and Country Club was incorporated in 1935, tying the community’s present layout to the earlier estate. What once sat on the edge of Bakersfield is now enclosed by the city, giving Olde Stockdale its unusual island-on-the-map quality. Residents rejected annexation in 1979, so the place remains a separate census-designated community even though Bakersfield surrounds it. The quick read is simple: a compact estate landscape that became a neighborhood without becoming part of the city.
