Olympia, SC

Olympia is an urban unincorporated area and census-designated place in Richland County, South Carolina, United States. The 2020 census counted 1,087 residents. The CDP is in western Richland County, bordered to the north by Columbia, the state capital, and to the west, across the Congaree River, by Cayce. The eastern half of the CDP is residential, while the western half is occupied by the Columbia Quarry of Vulcan Materials. That mix gives Olympia a clear local shape within South Carolina, with older layers still visible in current places. The local scoop is a place whose streets, landmarks, and institutions keep its earlier story close to the present. Four locations in the CDP are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Olympia includes a historic district.
