About Omar

Set along Main Island Creek in Logan County, Omar is a quiet Appalachian community shaped by southern West Virginia's coal and timber heritage. Established in the early 1900s as a thriving mining hub, the area retains much of its historic character through its vintage company houses and local post office. Today, about 400 residents live tucked into the green hills along Jerry West Highway, enjoying a relaxed, small-town atmosphere just a short drive south of Logan.
