Oneida Castle, NY

Oneida Castle is a small, peaceful village of around 600 people, tucked right between Oneida and Sherrill in Central New York. The community gets its unique name from the Oneida Indian Nation, whose historic fortified settlement stood on these grounds centuries ago. Today, it is mostly a quiet residential enclave where neighbors enjoy tree-lined streets, classic older homes, and a calm, small-town atmosphere.

Back in the mid-1800s, a local congressman even campaigned to make Oneida Castle the New York state capital thanks to its central spot on the map. That convenient location remains one of the best parts of living here. You get the peace of a close-knit village while staying within a five-minute drive of grocery stores, local dining, and schools in neighboring towns. Route 5 runs right along the edge of the village, making it an easy commute to Syracuse, Utica, and nearby regional employers.
