About Onsted
Onsted is a Lenawee County village in the Irish Hills, with a Main Street that grew out of a railroad town and still serves as Cambridge Township's southwest gateway. William Onsted organized the settlement in 1883; the village incorporated in 1907, after the Michigan and Ohio Railroad gave it a reason to become a town. Early Main Street businesses included a grain elevator, sawmill, and grist and flour mill. Today the village has a coffee shop, restaurants, hardware store, library, and Onsted Community Schools, while the surrounding Irish Hills lakes give the place a broader recreational map. Onsted is a small village with a practical core and a very Michigan road-trip setting.
