Orchard, TX

Tucked along Highway 36 in western Fort Bend County, Orchard is a peaceful rural community of about 300 residents sitting right between Rosenberg and Wallis. It started as an 1880s railroad stop and got its name after early settlers tried, and quickly failed, to grow fruit trees on the prairie. Today, it offers newcomers a quiet country setting with plenty of open space, all while keeping the conveniences of Rosenberg and Richmond just a short drive down the road.

The town itself is compact and easygoing, spread across a handful of quiet streets bordered by open farmland. Local families are served by the Brazos Independent School District, with Brazos Elementary situated right in town. Life here moves at an unhurried pace, making it an appealing spot if you want wide-open Texas skies and a close-knit neighborhood where people still wave from their front porches.
