Orchid is a tiny, upscale coastal town set on a narrow barrier island between the Indian River Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean. Home to roughly 500 residents, the community is centered largely around the gated Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club, featuring West Indies-style homes and oceanfront condominiums along Highway A1A. It offers a relaxed, private atmosphere where days are spent enjoying uncrowded beaches, golf, and scenic water views on both sides of the island.

Outdoor living is central to the area's appeal. The historic, unpaved Jungle Trail winds along the lagoon side of town, making it easy to bike, jog, or head north toward Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge for birdwatching and fishing. Orchid remains purely residential, preserving its quiet shoreline and low-density feel. For groceries, dining, healthcare, and schools, residents make the quick drive down the island or across the bridge to neighboring Vero Beach and Sebastian.
