Orderville, UT

Orderville is a Kane County town in Long Valley, where U.S. 89 follows the East Fork of the Virgin River between Glendale and Kanab. The town was established in 1875 under Brigham Young's direction as an experiment in the United Order, a communal system in which residents shared work, production, meals, and many daily responsibilities. Settlers included refugees from failed communities along Nevada's Muddy River. The arrangement lasted until 1885, but its physical and historical imprint remains in the town's museums and older buildings. The Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum preserves the local story, while the river valley and roads point toward Zion National Park and the wider canyon region. Orderville is a small southern Utah town with a rare founding story: an entire community organized around a shared economic and religious experiment.
