Oregon, IL

Set right along the scenic Rock River in northern Illinois, Oregon is a charming small town of about 3,600 residents that feels both relaxed and creative. The town has a unique artistic legacy thanks to sculptor Lorado Taft, who founded the Eagle's Nest Art Colony here in the late 1800s. You can still see that creative touch everywhere, from the local sculpture trail to the massive Black Hawk statue overlooking the river at Lowden State Park. Community traditions run strong too, especially each October when the courthouse square fills up for Autumn on Parade, a favorite local festival with craft vendors, food, and a big weekend parade.

Daily life in Oregon centers around its walkable downtown and close-knit community. Families are served by the local Oregon school district, which keeps elementary and junior/senior high students right in town.
