Orwell, OH

Orwell is an Ashtabula County village with a name imported from Vermont and a boxing story that still feels unexpected on an Ohio map. The post office has operated since 1826, and the village took the Orwell name from the home state of an early settler. State Route 45 South leads to the King Training Camp, the boxing facility associated with promoter Don King, where well-known fighters and up-and-coming boxers have trained. The village’s schools are part of the Grand Valley Local School District, serving several surrounding townships. Orwell is northeastern Ohio in a compact package: an old post office, a rural school map, and a very unusual sporting landmark.
