Osgood, OH

Osgood was established in the 1880s in Darke County, and the village’s official page dates its founding to 1881. The 2020 census counted 306 residents. Osgood’s clearest landmark is St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Catholic families petitioned for a local parish in 1906, and the present brick church was dedicated in 1908; the church and rectory were later listed on the National Register. That building gives the small settlement a recognizable center and keeps an early twentieth-century chapter visible. The church’s brick walls, stone trim, and octagonal steeple make it an especially recognizable building on the village map.

The village sits in the agricultural landscape of western Ohio, with local government based at 125 West Main Street. Osgood’s current map is modest—homes, local streets, the church, and village offices—but its 1881 founding date and surviving parish give it a distinct thread of local history. The result is a small Darke County community whose main landmark also records the people and traditions that shaped it.
