Osmond, NE

Osmond is a Pierce County city whose modern shape arrived with the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad in 1890. The 2020 census counted 791 residents. The railroad made the town a shipping point for northeast Nebraska farms, and grain, livestock, farm machinery, and local businesses grew around the tracks. Osmond likely took its name from a railroad official, but the city's enduring connection is to the agricultural country that surrounds it. The railroad's old role is still visible in the grain and farm-equipment businesses that ring town.
