About Packanack Lake

Packanack Lake is an unincorporated lake community and census-designated place within Wayne, in Passaic County. The community grew around the lake itself, after much older Native use of the area for farming, fishing, and hunting. That gives Packanack Lake a more specific feel than many North Jersey residential pockets: houses, clubs, schools, and daily routines are arranged around the water. It feels suburban but connected, with the lake acting as both scenery and social center.
