About Paia

Pāʻia is a census-designated place on the northern coast of Maui, in Maui County, Hawaiʻi. Once home to a Hawaiian Commercial and Sugar Company mill that operated from 1880 to 2000, the community of approximately 2,500 today features a well-known collection of restaurants, art galleries, surf shops, and boutiques catering to visitors and residents alike. Public education is administered by the Hawaii Department of Education.
