Painted Hills, IN

Painted Hills is an unincorporated census-designated place in Jackson Township, southeast of Martinsville, spread along Lake Holiday and Lake Nebo. The two lakes are central to how the community is run: the Painted Hills Association operates through an HOA board and lakes committee, with rules for boat stickers and idle speeds and regular lake-treatment notices. Indiana DNR lists Lake Holiday at about 150 acres and Lake Nebo at about 46 acres. State Road 252 traces the community's northeastern edge, leading to Martinsville and Morgantown. Painted Hills is a lake-centered neighborhood with its own association system—roads, covenants, water work, and seasonal routines doing the work a town government might handle elsewhere.
