Pajaro, CA

Sitting on the banks of the Pajaro River in northern Monterey County, Pajaro is a small, quiet community of around 3,000 people in the heart of the Pajaro Valley. The river forms the county border, putting Watsonville just a short walk or drive across the bridge in Santa Cruz County. That setup gives residents a low-key neighborhood atmosphere with fast access to all the grocery stores, restaurants, and downtown conveniences right across the water.

The community is surrounded by rich farmland and has deep roots in the region's agricultural history. One of the standout local landmarks is the 1840s Porter-Vallejo Mansion, a historic estate that now serves the neighborhood as a public library and senior center. With local students attending schools in the shared Pajaro Valley district, the town functions much like an extension of Watsonville while keeping a relaxed, close-knit pace of its own.
