Palestine is a city and the county seat of Anderson County, Texas, situated in the pine forests of the Piney Woods region. Named after Palestine, Illinois, by early pioneer Daniel Parker, the city of approximately 19,100 lies equidistant from Dallas, Houston, and Shreveport. The community is famous for its annual spring dogwood festival, is home to a campus of Trinity Valley Community College, and houses NASA's Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility.
