Palm Coast is a master-planned community designed around nature and the water. Originally mapped out in the late 1960s, the city was built from a single cohesive plan, resulting in winding residential streets, abundant green spaces, and a wonderfully relaxed pace of life. Water is everywhere, with roughly 70 miles of interconnected freshwater and saltwater canals. For boaters and anglers, many neighborhoods feature backyard docks with direct boat access out to the Intracoastal Waterway.

Getting out on the water is a huge part of the local lifestyle. Places like Long Creek Nature Preserve offer easy access to calm tidal creeks where you can launch a kayak and paddle toward the Intracoastal. Launch sites at Waterfront Park and Bing's Landing make it simple to spend a morning fishing, paddleboarding, or exploring coastal marshes. The surrounding waterways are also rich in Florida history, with scenic paddling routes that follow old coastal trade channels under canopies of mossy oaks.

On land, the city stands out for its network of more than 130 miles of paved trails. These multi-use paths wind through neighborhoods, coastal hammocks, and protected preserves, giving walkers, runners, and cyclists easy routes all across town. At Waterfront Park, you can stroll along the Intracoastal while watching boats cruise by. Over at Linear Park, shaded paths wind through dense trees, connecting neighborhood playgrounds, sports courts, and quiet spots to sit and unwind.

When you want dining, shopping, or local entertainment, Town Center serves as the primary hub. Centered around Central Park and City Hall, this district brings together restaurants, retail shops, medical facilities, and residential living. The park itself features a large outdoor stage that hosts regular food truck festivals, seasonal markets, and live music on warm evenings, giving the area a lively, walkable gathering place right in the heart of town.
